What is a 1099?
Form 1099 is an Internal Revenue Service (IRS tax form that reports payments made or received outside of regular employment. They track income from independent work, rent, royalties, or other nonemployee compensation.
Common 1099 forms:
1099-NEC: Non-employee compensation of $600+ from a business or individual who isn’t your employer
1099-MISC: Rent or royalty payments of $600+
1099-G: Unemployment income or state/local tax refunds
Starting in 2026, the reporting threshold for 1099-K, 1099-MISC, and 1099-NEC rises to $2,000 and will adjust annually for inflation.
How Carepatron can help
Carepatron allows you to export invoice and payment data from the Billing page to assist with tax preparation.
Navigate to the Billing page.
Go to the 'Export' button in the upper right corner.
Select date range, status, and staff.
Set the timezone.
Tick the include line items checkbox for an itemized report.
Click 'Save'.
What it doesn’t do
Carepatron does not provide 1099 forms.
Carepatron does not automatically generate or file 1099 forms with the IRS.
It does not provide tax advice or calculate tax obligations.
For 1099 tax forms, you’ll typically need to work with your accountant or use tax preparation software. Exporting your payment and invoice data from Carepatron can help you prepare your 1099s.
