How do I disconnect my Stripe account from Carepatron?

You can now remove your connected Stripe account directly from your Stripe Express dashboard, as long as there are no outstanding balances. This allows you to manage the removal yourself in many cases.


How to delete your Stripe account

  1. Log in to your Stripe Express dashboard.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Select Delete account.

  4. Follow the prompts to confirm deletion.

You can only delete the account if there are no pending balances.


What happens when you delete your Stripe account?

Deleting your account permanently removes it from Stripe. Once deleted, it cannot be restored.

Before proceeding, make sure you export any tax or reporting documents you may need in the future.

When you delete your account:

  • Your Stripe account is permanently closed.

  • Refunds through Carepatron will no longer be possible.

  • The account is removed from your Carepatron workspace.

  • Payments in Carepatron are disabled.

  • You can set up a brand new payment account if needed.


When should you delete your Stripe account?

You may consider deleting your account if:

  • You are setting up or testing Carepatron and want to remove your payment data.

  • You entered incorrect information during onboarding, such as the wrong country.

  • You have not processed any payments and want to start fresh with a new payment account.


When should you not delete your Stripe account?

You should avoid deleting your account if you have already processed payments and still need access to your payment history.

In this situation, disconnecting the account instead of deleting it may be a better option. Disconnecting allows you to set up a fresh payment account while preserving your existing Stripe account and its payment records. If needed, our team can still manually disconnect your account while retaining the underlying Stripe account.
