Deleting a program session gives you a choice of how much to remove. Instead of working through sessions one at a time, you can delete a single session, that session and everything after it, or the entire program in one action. One confirmation, one round of follow-up prompts, done.
Who this applies to: All practitioners with edit access to program sessions. No setup is required. The three removal options appear automatically on the delete prompt for any program session.
What each option removes
There are three removal scopes:
This session (Default): Removes only the session you opened. Behaves exactly as deleting a program session always does. Earlier and later sessions are untouched.
This and following sessions: Removes the session you opened and all sessions dated after it. Sessions before the one you opened are left in place.
The whole program: Removes all sessions, including those that have already taken place.
The safe option is the default. This session is preselected every time the prompt opens, so the widest deletion is never the accidental one.
Remove part or all of a program
Here's how:
Open a program session from the calendar, the appointment details panel, or the client record's appointment history.
Choose to delete the session. The Delete program session prompt opens with the three removal scopes, and This session is preselected.
Select the scope that applies: This and following sessions or The whole program.
Click Yes, delete. The removed sessions leave the calendar together.
If the session you opened has outstanding billing, the billing panel opens. Settle it or close it to continue.
The cancellation step opens, listing every client booked on any removed session. Send cancellation notifications or close without sending. Either way, the removal stands.
Access requirement: Sessions can only be removed by someone with edit access to all of them. If your access does not cover every session in the chosen scope, the removal is refused, and nothing is deleted.
How the removal and notifications work
All removed sessions leave the calendar together.
A client booked on multiple removed sessions appears once, not once per session
Clients booked only on later sessions are included.
Closing without sending is a valid choice.
Restoring is unchanged and remains session-by-session. A program removed in one action is restored one session at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Does this change how deleting a single session works?
No. Selecting This session behaves exactly as deleting a program session always has. Nothing about the existing single-session flow changes.
What if the removal fails partway through?
A failed removal leaves the program exactly as it was. No sessions are partially deleted.
Can I accidentally submit the deletion twice?
No. The confirm button is locked while the removal runs and cannot be submitted again.
What happens if I do not send cancellation notifications?
Closing the cancellation step without sending means no notification is sent. The removal still stands, and the sessions remain deleted.
Do I need to configure anything to use this?
No. The three removal options appear automatically on the delete prompt for any program session. No setup is required.
